Compassionate, Evidence-Based Screening for Children, Teens & Adults
If you’re feeling constantly distracted, forgetful, overwhelmed, or unable to focus — or if your child is struggling with attention and behavior in school — you may be wondering if ADHD is the reason. At FirstChoice Clinic & Urgent Care, we provide confidential, clinical ADHD evaluations in a respectful and supportive setting.
Located in Canoga Park, we serve individuals and families from Reseda, Woodland Hills, West Hills, Winnetka, Chatsworth, and the wider San Fernando Valley.
Understanding ADHD
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects a person’s ability to regulate attention, focus, impulses, and organization. While it’s commonly diagnosed in childhood, many teens and adults go undiagnosed for years.
There are three main types of ADHD:
- Predominantly inattentive (difficulty focusing, forgetfulness)
- Predominantly hyperactive-impulsive (restlessness, impulsivity)
- Combined type (a mix of both)
An accurate diagnosis is key to creating a plan that improves daily functioning, academic or work performance, and overall quality of life.
Who Should Get Evaluated?
An ADHD evaluation may be helpful if you or your child are experiencing:
- Difficulty concentrating or staying organized
- Restlessness, impulsive behavior, or constant fidgeting
- Poor time management or chronic procrastination
- Trouble following through with tasks or instructions
- Underperformance at school or work despite ability
- Emotional sensitivity or mood swings
- Forgetfulness or losing items often
Whether you’re a college student wondering why focus is so hard, a working adult feeling scattered, or a parent concerned about your child’s behavior — we can help.
What the Evaluation Includes
At FirstChoice, our ADHD evaluations are personalized and clinically grounded. We start with a private consultation to understand your symptoms, history, and goals.
Depending on the situation, the evaluation may include:
- In-depth discussion of symptoms and functional impact
- Behavioral questionnaires for the patient (and parents/teachers if applicable)
- Mental health screening for other possible contributing conditions
- Review of academic or work history, prior diagnoses, and medications
- Referral for neuropsychological testing (if required for school or legal accommodations)
Once completed, we’ll provide you with a clear explanation of the findings and next steps.
What Happens After Diagnosis?
If a diagnosis is confirmed, we’ll work with you to create a care plan tailored to your lifestyle. This may include:
- Medication management (when appropriate)
- Behavioral coaching or therapy referrals
- Support strategies for school or workplace success
- Collaboration with schools for 504 Plans or IEP accommodations
- Ongoing monitoring and support
Our goal is to empower you or your child to manage symptoms and thrive — at home, at school, at work, and in daily life.
